Paul Rodriguez, third generation Chino resident, His paternal grandfather, Presciliano Rodriguez, settled in 1904, 120 years ago, into what was to become District 1 of the City of Chino years later. Paul attended public schools in Chino, becoming a teacher in the School District, and later a School Counselor in Don Lugo High School. He served as City Councilman for District 1 between 2017 and 2020.<\/p>\n
Paul served on the City\u2019s Fiscal Committee for a balanced budget; represented the City at the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), specializing in the committees for Community Economics and Human Development, Technology, Transportation, Water, Regional Housing Needs Assessment (RHNA), and Affordable Housing; represented the City at the National League of Cities (NLC) and served on National Association for Latino Elected Officials (NALEO) and the Hispanic Elected Local Officials Caucus (HELO). He also served on the League of California Cities (LOCC) representing the City of Chino. On the national level, Paul worked on the National Crisis for Affordable Housing, Transportation, Water, Technology, and Infrastructure development.<\/p>\n
Paul received his Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Mary\u2019s College in Philosophy from Moraga CA and a second Bachelor of Arts degree in Music History from Holy Names University in Oakland, California. He went on to attend the University of Southern California in Musicology and later transferred to California State University, Fullerton to receive his Master of Arts in Musicology. In 1992, Paul completed his Master of Arts in Education at California Polytechnic Institute, Pomona. Furthermore, he completed his Master of Science degree in School Counseling from the University of La Verne in 1996. He finished his Doctorate (EDD) in Education from the University of La Verne in 2005. In addition, he was one of the earliest recipients of the Chief Business State Certification offered by the University of Riverside, trained to serve all divisions (including Finance, Purchasing, Technology, Leadership and Change in Organizational Management) of School Education in any School District throughout California.<\/p>\n
Paul taught multiple subjects K through 12 and higher education at the University of California, Riverside and Union Institute and University in Miami, Florida. His educational background took him from self-contained classroom instruction to High School Guidance Counselor at Don Lugo High School, to Principal for Traditional and Continuation High Schools, and taught at the Alternative to Expulsion Program to Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Montebello Unified School District. Paul served as a senior examiner for the Baldrige Excellence Frameworks which focused on the quality of organizational management at the State level. Paul worked as lead examiner for the California State Department of Education for K-12 Distinguished Schools and Golden Apple awards for organizational excellence throughout the State. For 15 years, Dr. Rodriguez presented on behalf of the California League of Schools annual reports on leadership, technology, and organizational management of schools throughout the State. In addition, he represented the Consortium for Research Evaluation and Teacher Excellence (CREATE) in Washington DC and Williamsburg, Virginia. Paul will continue to present for the California League of Schools (CLS) throughout the state of California on current topics like Leadership, Technology. Climate change, Transportation, Water, and topics that directly affect the news and issues of the City of Chino.<\/p>\n
Dr. Rodriguez is an active member of the Chino Valley Chamber of Commerce and is an ambassador for job and college career fairs, an active member for the Chino Valley Rotary where he helps chair as a leader for volunteers for events for the Chino Rotary, active member for the Knights of Columbus council #15339 for St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church where he serves as the lead for 8th grade yearly scholarships, a participating member of St. Margaret Catholic Church\u2019s Comfort and Hope Online Prayer Service to help people deal with death of a love one that offers support through prayer to help people cope, and former church organist for St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church from 1963 to 2015.<\/p>\n
Paul\u2019s entire life has been dedicated to excellence in serving the needs of the
community through methods that are positive for everyone he touches, leadership, technology, organizational management, and creativity in future planning: all issues challenging and plaguing the current administration of our city.<\/p>\n
